Semi-obscure Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter wins Texas Republican straw poll in Fort Worth

— With their first straw poll on Saturday, Texas Republicans established themselves as ornery xenophobes by going with Republican presidential hopeful Duncan Hunter, a California congressman whose main claim to fame is his hard line on illegal immigrants and his infatuation with the idea of building a security fence across the U.S.-Mexico border.

Only 3,000 people showed up -- way less than the 10,000 or so that were hyped, and they gave few votes to any of the established front-runners, with Fred Thompson -- who has yet to announce he's running for President -- coming in second and local guy U.S. Rep. Ron Paul coming in third.
