Fried cookie dough wins as 2007 Texas State Fair’s best-tasting new food creation
DALLAS Winners of the "Big Tex Choice Awards" were announced for best-tasting new treat at the 2007 Texas State Fair, which if you haven't heard will open on September 28. From a field of 7 candidates, the Texas Fried Cookie Dough won the prize for "Best Taste".
It's no surprise, coming as it does from veteran concessionaire Abel Gonzales, famous for his ground-breaking fried Twinkie; he wins some kind of trophy every year. His Fried Cookie Dough consists of cookie dough -- made from scratch with pecans, chocolate chips and coconut -- which is battered and deep fried, emerging warm and gooey, then topped with chocolate syrup or whipped cream.
Winner for "Most Creative" was the Deep Fried Latte, from concessionaires Michael and Jake Levy, a fried puff pastry with a hint of coffee that's topped with cappuccino ice cream, sweet syrup, whipped cream and instant coffee sprinkles.

Scott, says:
Where will Gonzales's booth be located? This sounds much more promising than last year's "fried Coke."
