Plano Civic Chorus opens anniversary season with Brahm’s Requiem
The chorus, led by Ralph Frederick Stannard, Conductor, will be accompanied by the Dallas Chamber Orchestra with Ronald Neal, Concertmaster.
On Saturday, October 13, 2007, the Plano Civic Chorus will begin their concert season with the soul-stirring beauty of Johannes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem), one of the timeless masterpieces of the choral repertoire. In contrast to a traditional requiem that offers prayers for the dead, Brahms’ uplifting text from the Lutheran Bible emphasizes comfort for the living.
The concert will be at 8 p.m. in the St. Andrew United Methodist Church on West Plano Parkway in Plano. The shimmering acoustics of the church will showcase this stunning work in all its glory. It’s sure to be an unforgettable start to an electrifying season!
The chorus, led by Ralph Frederick Stannard, Conductor, will be accompanied by the Dallas Chamber Orchestra with Ronald Neal, Concertmaster. Featured soloists will be Colleen Klein Oates, soprano, and Michael Everidge, baritone. The chorus and orchestra will also perform Brahms’ Nanie.
To purchase tickets for $20 in advance, please call the chorus hotline at 972-606-5220. Tickets at the door will be $25. Student tickets are $10. Tickets are also available through our website at www.planocivicchorus.org. Also, season subscriptions are available for $55 for all four season concerts through the phone or website.
