UPDATED: Rise & Dine, new breakfast chain, comes to Dallas area
Updated 08:37 a.m., October 10, 2007
ADDISON Rise & Dine, a new restaurant chain specializing in breakfast and lunch only, has arrived in the Dallas area, with the first branch now open in Addison, on Belt Line Road just west of Midway.
Open from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the restaurant does omelets, benedicts, pancakes, wrap sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Its signature dishes include "French toast crunch" – French toast coated in granola, coconut, and brown sugar and baked until crunchy, oh yum; and fruit-filled biscuits called "blossoms."
Come to me, my little fruit blossom, come to me now. Oh you're a coquette-ish little fruit blossom, yes you are. But there's no sense in postponing the inevitable. FRUIT BLOSSOM, GET YOUR $&%! ASS OVER HERE.
Rise & Dine started out in Bradenton, Fla., where it was originally a small area chain called Peach’s. Bolstered by the fact that the "breakfast category" is one of the fastest-growing segments in the restaurant industry, the company swelled to a franchising concept, relocated its HQ to Ohio, and relabeled itself "Rise & Dine."
There are plans underway to open 50 branches in Ohio, 25 in Missouri -- and at least 20 in the DFW area, with a second branch set to open in North Richland Hills in December. The local franchiser is Joseph Spates of Prosper, whose prior franchises have included CiCi’s Pizza and Firehouse Subs which he sold to develop Peach’s Rise & Dine.
The fact that the inaugural branch has gone into a space that's right up the street from the hugely successful Benedict's is surely no coincidence; then again, if it means that the line at Benedict's gets slightly shorter, it's not a bad thing.
UPDATE: A Rise & Dine will open at The Venue at Hometown, 6021 Walker Boulevard in North Richland Hills, in December.

And all we will get in north Dallas is a new Denny's on Frankford Rd. Hoo-frickin-ray.

I had breakfast here http://www.sainthonorebakery.com/ this morning, and it blows anything in the Dallas area out of the water. And La Madeleine should be ashamed to open its doors!

If anybody has any sense they'll just go to the Mecca on Harry Hines (north of NW Hwy) and get the "Mecca special" breakfast served from 5a.m.-close@3 and under $6. Homemade baking powder bisquits, ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns. Why look for Hollywood breakfasts when heaven has been here since the 1950s.

I, too, prefer an old fashioned breakfast served by waitresses who call me "hon." Norma's in Oak Cliff is the place - and it's generally PACKED now that more folks are moving into the 'hood.

My favorite breakfast place in Dallas is Buzzbrews on Central and Fitzhugh. Great juevos y nopales. Don't know anywhere else that serves them. Good omelette. I'm not big on pancakes, but theirs look great. Inexpensive and besides, they have Frank Campagna's art on the wall. That's a plus by itself.
Also, lots of new panderias in my Casa View neighborhood, three for a buck.

Rise and Dine oh yes that name is an eye-roller. How much cheese on the omelette?
Let's hope these places stay outside LBJ.

Buzzbrews? Somehow, if I was patroling for a breakfast spot, a place called Buzzbrews wouldn't catch my eye as a likely candidate.

buzzbrews is a weird name but it's an awesome place. not only is the food great and the breakfasts killer (their egg-white omelet is wonderful -- fluffy and moist), but it's also open 24 hours; love the 24-hour places! it's owned by a guy who used to be a manager at cafe brazil, so there are some similarities -- bottomless coffee, semi-mexican slant to the menu -- but i think i like buzzbrews a little better

Why anybody who frequents a great breakfast joint post the name on this web site is beyond me. I have a couple of favorites, but refrain from posting the name. I don't won't to see a crowd next time i have my cup-of-joe at _ _ _ _ s.
