Two new bachelor’s-master’s engineering fast-track plans begin this fall at UTA

0

The University of Texas at Arlington College of Engineering will offer two new Fast Track degree plans beginning this fall that enable senior students to satisfy degree requirements leading to a master’s degree while completing their undergraduate studies. The key feature of these programs is joint credit counting for both degrees for a select set of courses. The plans are being conducted by the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and the Materials Science & Engineering Departments and with the College of Science. The Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering plan leads to mechanical engineering degrees. The plan is open to outstanding senior students who have maintained a 3.3 or better grade point average in certain engineering courses, as well as an overall GPA of 3.0. In the plan, as many as three graduate-level courses will also count as undergraduate courses, enabling students to possibly save one semester of graduate study. An additional feature is the waiving of the Graduate Record Exam and graduate application fees. The Materials Science & Engineering plan is being conducted in association with the College of Science and will lead to a Master of Science degree in Materials Science & Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Students admitted for the plan must be within 30 hours of completing their bachelor’s degree and have maintained a 3.0 GPA in all courses and a 3.3 GPA in foundation materials and physics courses. Unlike the mechanical engineering plan, a mixture of advanced undergraduate and graduate courses may be used to satisfy requirements for both degrees; in this plan, up to 21 hours.
