Dallas Desperados hold auditions for 2008 dance team September 8
The Dallas Desperados Dancers are looking for bright, friendly, attractive women 18 and older (but let's be real -- not TOO much older) to perform at all 2008 Desperados home games, make personal appearances across the country, and be positive role models and charitable ambassadors throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth community.
Preliminary auditions for the 2008 squad will be held at the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders' dance studio on Saturday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. Interested individuals should arrive prepared to have photos taken, perform an introduction with the judges panel, and learn a short hip-hop style dance routine.
Registration will be $35, which is a total rip-off. You have to pay to apply for a job? A group will be chosen to advance to the semi-final round scheduled for Saturday, September 15. This is a "closed" audition, whatever that means. A group of "celebrity judges" (yeah, right) and team officials will evaluate the Finals contestants on Thursday, September 20 at the Glass Cactus at Gaylord, and announce the 2008 squad after a last round of performances that evening.
The Dallas Desperados Dancers perform at all Dallas Desperados home games and participate in corporate and community events across North Texas. Squad members represent the team in the media, both TV and radio, participate in the team's community service programs, and make appearances at Dallas Cowboys home games.

We had a note about pricey parking here, but got this friendly correction:

Noticed the comment re: parking at the Glass Cactus (Desperados Dancers info). Self parking is complimentary. A parking validation is given to customers at the Glass Cactus Nightclub.

Who wrote this article?
I've read some of your "news stories" and I just felt the need to call you on your lack of journalistic integrity. This post was the final straw, shall we say. Shame on you Pegasus News...real journalists check facts before writing or ever printing/posting a story. My "journalistic" savvy (www.dallasdesperados.com) informed me of two questionable areas in your story: 1) the previous squad had two ladies in their 30's...far from the "not TOO much older" than 18 years of age that you, or shall I say the anonymous posting of "Pegasus Newswire," proclaim, 2) you informed readers of a closed audition, however, I was in attendance of the final auditon at the Glass Cactus...glad I didn't read your editorial or I wouldn't have gotten to see friends audition that evening. Clarification on the finals was paramount here and you failed. Basically, I call a big "FOUL." If I wanted a bunch of opinionated-filled paranthesis or a bunch of catty quotation marks, I would have called a friend to gossip...not read a news blog by an anonymous writer...wait...or shall I say a shallow, non-fact checking journalist...wait...gossiper. Journalism should equal integrity and facts, not opinion. PegasusNewsWire...it's time to look in the mirror are you a journalistic news source or an editorial?

Fordlover,
On point one, thanks for the info on the age of the squad. Glad to hear that the Desperados are busting stereotypes -- That's why we have open, unedited, unmoderated comments here, so that folks who know more than we do (of which there are aplenty) can help us and our audience out. As far as I know, we're the only media business in town to have that feature.
On point two: That information came straight from the Desperados. They must have wanted people to think the auditions were closed -- probably didn't want a crowd, but didn't mind friends of the dancers showing up.
One place we did fall down here: Our methodology is to mark wire stories "Source: Name of organization" if we're basically posting a press release, but to byline or mark "Posted by Staffmember Name" when there's substantial voice and opinion thrust in there. We fell down on that one, but will right it here. The story was posted by our own Teresa Gubbins and then updated by me a few days later.
As far as your further criticisms, you're either new here or have otherwise totally missed what we're about around here. Here's a bit of guiding philosophy from the early canon:

*"are you a journalistic news source or an editorial?"*
Both. And neither. If you can't grok that, there are lots of other local news sources about. But unfortunately, none other than us who gave notice of the Desperados Dance auditions before they were over.NBC 5 did post some raw video from the finals, of some decidedly well-under-thirty-looking gals:
