Tin Star in Uptown closed, to be replaced by second branch of Mooyah Burgers
DALLAS The Tin Star on Allen Street in Uptown closed on Friday August 31, and will be replaced by a second branch of Mooyah Burgers, a nascent burger chain co-created by Tin Star founder Rich Hicks.
The first branch of Mooyah opened in April in Plano, west of the Willow Bend Mall, with an over-simplified menu of burgers, fries, and milkshakes, yet a typical per-person bill of $10 (versus $5 for a regular fast-food burger chain). Hicks' partner in the Mooyah concept is Todd Istre, who founded the Boudreaux’s Cajun Kitchen and Taters Kountry Kitchen concepts in Houston. Boudreaux's just announced that it's expanding into Dallas.
According to a Tin Star employee, a new Tin Star may open in downtown Dallas' underground system, below the Bank of America building at 901 Main Street.
The new Mooyah Burger in Uptown is set to open on October 1.

Well, I obviously missed the boat on this one - by six months no less... our family drove down to Bend Yoga Studio to see a live music performance by Dana Cooper (fantastic show, by the way) and since we were coming so far (from Coppell) we decided to go to Tin Star - good food and quick, too.
The horror, the horror! And Mooyah Burger is an enormous joke. I would have just as soon eaten a Burger King Whopper. I can't believe they do any business. I loved Tin Star! We had already lost one out here. sniff
