Dallas South game preview: Garland vs. DeSoto

DESOTO — This week, two local powerhouses meet up at DeSoto’s Eagle Stadium. The Garland High School Owls will travel to the Best Southwest to face DeSoto on Friday night.
Garland (0-1) comes into the contest having lost to Allen last week 21-15. Despite the loss, the Dallas Morning News ranks Garland as the No. 5 area team in 5A.
DeSoto, led by slashlike QB Cyrus Gray, is playing their season opener. The Eagles were defeated by Garland last season 28-14. DeSoto is ranked No. 7 in the Morning News local 5A poll.
