Bill Bradley to speak at UTA

ARLINGTON–Former U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Bill Bradley will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at The University of Texas at Arlington’s Texas Hall, 701 W. Nedderman Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

Bradley represented New Jersey in the U.S. Senate from 1979 to 1997. In 2000, he was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. Before serving in the Senate, he was an Olympic gold medalist in 1964 and a professional basketball player with the New York Knicks from 1967 to 1977. The Knicks won two NBA titles while Bradley was on the team, and in 1982 he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Currently, Bradley hosts “American Voices,” a weekly show on Sirius Satellite Radio that highlights the remarkable accomplishments of Americans both famous and unknown.

Bradley will speak about his latest book, “The New American Story.” His Web site describes the book as “facing our reality squarely. No lying. No fudging the numbers. No excuses for inaction. No wallowing in bad news. No spinning of good news. Just the facts.”
