Top Chef: Episode eleven

If the chef thing doesn't work out, maybe C.J. can consider flight attending.

Staffers April Powell and Teresa Gubbins play "Ebert and Roper" on Episode 11 of Wednesday night's Top Chef series, in which the contestants cooked a meal to be served on an airplane. The Bravo series stars Dallas chefs Casey Thompson of Shinsei and Tre Wilcox of Abacus (who was eliminated in Episode 9).

TG: Good riddance, CJ. He was getting on my nerves.

AP: Now everyone can stop looking like a munchkin in the lineup.

TG: Do they intentionally make you finally loathe these people so that you're glad to see them go?.

AP: Quite possibly.

TG: After weeks of glamorous Miami, this episode was entirely inside an airplane. I was fascinated by the airplane's kitchen.

AP: I love technology artfully crammed into small spaces. The efficiency is so clever and cunning. Having flight attendants as judges was a great touch.

TG: And Casey winning with veal. I never, ever want to order veal.

AP: Never eaten it. Probably never will.

TG: And what was her side dish?

AP: Cauliflower gratin. I don't mind cauliflower, but I hate broccoli. You smother anything with cheese gratin, a lot of folks will eat it.

TG: Wasn't it funny that the judges said CJ's broccolini was the worst thing they'd eaten in 3 years?

AP: Perhaps he needed some gratin.
