Frontiers of Flight Museum: photo gallery and exhibit preview

Since I'd trumpeted the event the day before it occurred, I decided to drop on over to the Frontiers of Flight Museum Friday evening to take in the museum itself (which I'd not visited before) and the film screening that kicked off their Space50 series of special events, In the Shadow of the Moon, which we attendees were privileged to see before it releases in North Texas theaters later this month.

A film review will be forthcoming, but for now I thought I'd go ahead and post a gallery of photos taken of some of the museum exhibits.

The staff on hand are friendly and informative; many of the docents are volunteers who probably get as much of a thrill from hanging out with all the aviation paraphernalia as they would from receiving a paycheck. (O.K., that's a stretch, but still - it's clear they enjoy being there, sharing their expertise about planes and missiles and airships and space capsules.)

Notable are the last two pictures in the gallery, which provide a glimpse of the Earth From Space exhibit opening Saturday, Sept. 15.
