Casa Mañana is the largest performing arts organization in Fort Worth and is dedicated to bringing popular and entertaining works to the community. They have just announced the 2007-2008 Broadway season which predominately takes place at Bass Performance Hall:
- Man of La Mancha from November 6 - 11 at Bass Performance Hall. Based on The Adventures of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes and set during the Spanish Inquisition, Man Of La Mancha is the epic story of knight-errant Don Quixote, his servant Sancho, and the woman of his dreams. This musical comedy tragedy tells the romantic and noble tale of a knight who sets out to right all wrongs and win the heart of a good woman as he duels his demons and a few windmills along the way. Winner of 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical, the unforgettable score includes “It’s All The Same,” “Dulcinea,” “I’m Only Thinking Of Him,” “Little Bird” and “The Impossible Dream.”
- A Christmas Carol from December 21 - 29 at Bass Performance Hall. Audiences are buzzing with wonder and merriment for the new musical tale of Ebenezer Scrooge. When this lonely, greedy miser confronts the ghosts of his past, present and future, the result is a second chance at a life filled with laughter and love! With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, A Christmas Carol features the new holiday standards, “Christmas Together,” “Hear The Bells,” and “A Place Called Home.” Join Scrooge, Crachit, Tiny Tim and a host of colorful characters for this dazzling holiday musical!
- Dame Edna - Live & Intimate from January 22 - 27 at Bass Performance Hall. Following the national success of "The Royal Tour" and "Back With A Vengeance," Dame Edna Everage, the international housewife, therapist, gigastar, guru and celebrity confidant, is currently crafting her latest, exciting entertainment strategies on her private estate in her native Australia. All will be revealed with Dame Edna – Live And Intimate to her adoring, loyal and fashionably slim U.S. audiences. Dame Edna will display her unique genius within a new and vibrantly stimulating theatrical experience.
- Steel Magnolias deom February 12 - 17 at Casa Mañana Theatre. Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias focuses on the camaraderie of six southern ladies who gather regularly at their local beauty parlor to talk, gab, gossip, chit-chat, needle and harangue each other through the best of times – and cry, caress, comfort and console one another through the worst of times. Developed into a Hollywood blockbuster in 1989, Steel Magnolias is filled with hilarious, wise-cracking humor and touching, heart-warming moments that are perfect for the intimate setting of Casa Mañana Theatre.
- Chicago from February 26 - March 2 at Bass Performance Hall. Based on the 1926 play by the same name, Chicago is the story of seductive nightclub dancer Roxie Hart who finds that the road to fame can be a trail of blood. Throw in a cunning lawyer and a bit of “razzle-dazzle” and Roxie goes from cold hearted killer to the toast of the town. The ‘20s come roaring back with a vengeance when the Tony Award winning hit musical Chicago returns to the Bass Performance Hall.
- Tuna Does Vegas from March 25 - 30 at Bass Performance Hall. Starring the dynamic duo, Jaston Williams and Tony-Award nominee Joe Sears, in their first new show in 10 years! The hilarity begins when characters from the ‘third smallest town in Texas’ take a rambling romp in Sin City. Arles and Bertha plan to renew their wedding vows, Inita and Helen from the Tastee Kreme take a spin as showgirls, Joe Bob goes on the Rush Limbaugh diet, and Vera and Pearl battle over the slot machines. You’ll bust out laughing when Leonard’s wife accidentally stuffs a $20 bill into a male dancer’s underwear and goes back for change. What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas!
- Monty Python's Spamalot from June 24 - 29 at Bass Performance Hall. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Monty Python's Spamalot is the outrageous new musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic "Monty Python and The Holy Grail." Directed by Tony Award-winner Mike Nichols, with a book by Eric Idle and music and lyrics by the Grammy Award-winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez, Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences everywhere are eating up Spamalot.
And season tickets are now on sale for $145-430.
