Dallas’ Heritage Auction Galleries to broker sale of Easy Rider stuff

Straight from Peter Fonda's garage to your temperature and humidity-controlled high-security storage vault. (Or garage.)

Yep, Pete Fonda drew this for his famous dad at the age of seven. It's expected to bring $400+

From Heritage Auction Galleries comes word that Peter Fonda will be auctioning off several personal items of interest to collectors, including at least three pieces associated with the iconic 1969 film in which he portrayed Captain America, Easy Rider.

From the movie (via Mr. Fonda's collection) to the auction house and thence into the high bidder's Cadillac Escalade will go the Captain America flag, the D.O.D. badge worn by Mr. Fonda during the film and the Rolex watch he can be seen to throw away at the beginning of the movie. (He actually threw away a prop watch - the one up for auction is the genuine 18k gold article which he purchased as an indulgence shortly after completing the film's screenplay.)

But that's not all: in addition to the Rider stuff, Peter's putting up for bid the Martin D-45 guitar used in Outlaw Blues; a picture he drew for his father (Henry Fonda) when he (Peter) was seven years old; and his dad's Bronze Star, earned during the elder Fonda's service in the U.S. Navy during the Pacific War (1944).

Come well heeled if you expect to drive away with the flag: it's expected to bring upwards of $50 large.

Your chance to grab up some cinema history begins when the auction opens on October 6.
