Irving ditches developer on planned entertainment complex, seeks new partner

— Irving has opted to blownoff the developers of an entertainment complex planned for Las Colinas and will proceed without them.

The city council voted to terminate its "memorandum of understanding" with Texas Spirit!, a group that includes Billy Bob Barnett, owner of Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth. Irving says there was a legal dispute over the ownership, and that Texas Spirit! hadn't complied with the agreement. Hmmm, wonder what THAT is about. Texas Spirit! is hot to build an entertainment complex; they went to Irving because they weren't able to get a deal going in Dallas.

But they gave Irving the bug, because now Irving is looking for other partners to carry through the project, which will include restaurants, shops, hotel, and entertainment venue, as well as a convention center that's already been initiated and is schedule to open in fall 2009.
