Closing arguments begin on Holy Land trial in Dallas
Closing arguments begin on Monday on the trial involving the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, the Islamic charity accused of funneling money to Hamas terrorists overseas. Holy Land's accounts were frozen in 2002. This trial gives the charity's officials a chance to clear their name in court. This La Times story does a good job of summing up what went on during the trial, including the "extraordinary accommodation" of allowing two Israeli officials to testify anonymously in a closed courtroom; and speculation about why the trial went on for only two months instead of the expected six.
