DALLAS Five National Baseball Hall of Fame members are scheduled to attend the opening of the State Fair's new exhibit, "Baseball As America." Those scheduled to attend include George Brett, Fergie Jenkins (also a member of the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame), Jim Palmer, Ozzie Smith and Billy Williams.
Baseball As America runs at MNS from Sept. 28, 2007 – Jan. 13, 2008. Its purpose is to educate and inform visitors about the many ways in which this national pastime mirrors and influences the always-evolving American culture. Some artifacts in the exhibition include a ball pitched by Cy Young in the first World Series in 1903, legendary broadcaster Harry Caray’s eyeglasses, the world’s most famous baseball card, and historic photographs and artifacts from Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Joe DiMaggio and a host of other heroes.
During the State Fair of Texas (Sept. 28 – Oct. 21), Baseball As America will be open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. daily and admission will be just $1 with the purchase of admission to the Fair. Starting Oct. 22, MNS hours will be Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday noon-5 p.m. Exhibition admission will be free to MNS members and included in the general admission cost to non-members. General admission will be $8.75 for adults, $5.50 for children ages 3-11, $7.50 for youth ages 12-18, seniors 62+ and college students with a valid ID. Group rates and special events are also available. For more information, please visit the official website.
