Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Poltergeist at a theater near you
One-night-only event includes 15-minute docu-pic on "real" poltergeists.
In order to promote the Oct. 9 release of a digitally-remastered DVD version of the film Poltergeist, Warner Bros. is sponsoring a series of regional one-night-only theater screenings of the original 1982 film on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Are they real or are they Memorex? Only those old enough to remember that tagline can have seen the movie during its original release.
According to the press release, the show will include a "15-minute never-before-seen glimpse into the real world of poltergeists." (Operating on the assumption that there actually ARE real poltergeists, as Colin Wilson and legions of others would have us consider.)
Regardless of the existence of the titular entities, the Tobe Hooper/Steven Spielberg movie delivered on its promise of solid creepshow goodness and the chance to see it again (or, in the case of young whipper-snappers, for the first time) on a big screen smacks of genuine treatfulness.
Participating regional theaters include:
Galaxy Theatre Stadium 10 (Dallas)
Fossil Creek Stadium 11 (Fort Worth)
Tickets for this special event are already available for purchase; contact the various box offices for details.
