Suspicious man reported in University Park
Child was approached by man in blue car.
The University Park Police Department is requesting assistance from residents regarding suspicious activity that occurred Sunday, Sept. 16. The incident occurred in the 3600 block of Wentwood Drive and was reported to the Police Department Monday night.
Between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Sunday, a 9-year-old girl was walking home from a trip to the grocery store when she was approached by a white male driving a small blue car. According to the child, the man asked her if she had seen his lost dog. When the child said no, the man asked the child to come to his car to view a photo of the dog. At that point, the child ran from the location to her home located a short distance away.
The child told police that she originally noticed the same small blue car pass by her as she headed to the Tom Thumb store. The store is located in the 4000 block of Villanova Street.
The man is further described as having a square face and a scar near his left eye.
