Forbes honors Susan G. Komen for the Cure founder Nancy G. Brinker

0

— Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, founder of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest breast cancer organization, and recently appointed Chief of Protocol by President George W. Bush, is this year's recipient of The Forbes Trailblazer Award.

Each year, Forbes presents the Trailblazer Award to extraordinary women whose efforts have created opportunities for others. "Being selected among such distinguished past recipients of this award is a reminder of how much work remains to be done in the global fight against breast cancer as we continue to strive to do more for women and society," said Ambassador Brinker.

In addition to her role as the founder of Komen for the Cure, Ambassador Brinker, a breast cancer survivor and sister to Susan G. Komen, served as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Hungary and has served on the National Cancer Panel under Presidents Reagan and Bush. She has been an advocate in congressional hearings, the U.S. Democratic Policy Committee's Congressional Breast Cancer Forum and the National Dialogue on Cancer, now known as C-Change.

Among those who have been honored with the Trailblazer Award in the past are: Nancy Lublin, Dress for Success Worldwide Executive Director; Kim Phuc Phan, Chairman, The Kim Foundation and UNESCO Ambassador for the Culture of Peace; Linda Fuller, Co-Founder of Habitat for Humanity; and Gloria Steinem, Founder, Ms. magazine.
