Vandalized Virgin Mary to be repaired at Dallas church
DALLAS A Virgin Mary statue that had been pulled off its pedestal at the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Dallas earlier this week will be repaired, church officials said Thursday.
The Dallas Morning News helpfully gives this primer for those who might not know why this vandalism might be upsetting to Dallas Catholics: "For people who are emotionally attached neither to the Catholic Church nor to Mexico, the vandalism might be likened to someone burning the Texas flag outside Dallas City hall while stomping on a bible."
Damn, there go my weekend plans.
