0

North Texas senior forward Lyza Koubiteb has been selected to play for the Cameroon women's basketball team that will be taking part in the 20th Women’s African Cup from September 21-October 1.

Koubiteb, from Yaounde, Cameroon, will play for the national team in Dakar, Senegal with a change of qualifying for the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing.

"This is a great honor for Lyza to be selected by her country to play for them on such an international stage," said North Texas head coach Tina Slinker. "It's going to be great for her to go up against some international players and will only help her when she gets back here."

The African Cup features team from around the continent attempting to qualify for the Summer Olympics.

Koubiteb started six games last season for the Mean Green and is expected to be a key part of the 2007-08 squad.
