Florida Atlantic 30, University of North Texas 20
DENTON The Mean Green were unable to mount much of anything in a disastrous fourth quarter, blowing a 20-13 lead en route to losing 30-20 in Denton Saturday night. UNT dropped to 0-3 in new head coach Todd Dodge's first season since making the jump from high school.
Two weeks after breaking every school passing record in the books, UNT quarterback Daniel Meager went 38-for-61 for 301 yards and a touchdown, but also threw three critical interceptions, leading directly to Florida State's fourth-quarter comeback. Although the Mean Green were able to run the ball with some effectiveness --running back Jamario Thomas had 14 carries for 117 yards and a second-quarter touchdown on the ground-- the team's inability to close out a game with a reliable running attack spelled doom for UNT.
