DALLAS The Dallas Cowboys will kick off the seventh annual “Rookie Club” with an appearance at Mi Escuelita Preschool on Tuesday, September 25th. The team’s 2007 rookie players will have the opportunity to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15) with children at the school. The players are scheduled to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by helping the children create maracas and ponchos, make paper flowers, paint pictures as well hear the children sing songs in Spanish and English.
The visit to Mi Escuelita is the first of several appearances that the “Rookie Club” is scheduled to make this season. Future appearances will be scheduled on a Tuesday during each month of the regular football season. The “Rookie Club” is a program designed to introduce the team’s rookie members to the importance of community service. The program enables new players to work as a team, in order to gain confidence in their ability to interact with the community as professional athletes and role models.
Mi Escuelita Preschool is an early childhood program dedicated to teaching English and developing early learning skills to at-risk children of all cultures for preparation towards a successful school experience.
