Film composer Sujin Nam will lecture at UT Dallas Oct. 17

— Pianist and film composer Sujin Nam will give a free lecture at The University of Texas at Dallas on Wednesday Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jonsson Performance Hall.

As a score coordinator or orchestrator, Nam has worked on a variety of films including Entrapment, The Hurricane, Spiderman 2, Spiderman 3, Ghost Rider, The Grudge and Lucky You.

She has worked closely with such film directors as Jon Amiel, Curtis Hanson, Norman Jewison and Sam Raimi on films produced by 20th Century Fox, Columbia, MGM, Miramax, Paramount and Universal. Nam has composed music for Drive, Welcome to the Parker, The Fifth Patient, Starting Over, Vaudeville, Shanghai Ghetto, The Visit, Menace and One Last Run.

Nam’s numerous honors and awards include a Sundance Composers Lab Fellowship in 2002, an ASCAP Composer Workshop Fellowship in 1999, a BMI Young Composer Grant in 1998 and a James Thomas Weldon Jazz Pianist Award in 1997.

Nam received her undergraduate degree at the Mannes College of Music in Manhattan. She earned her master's degree at the University of North Texas, where she studied classical piano performance, jazz performance, conducting, arranging and composition. Nam studied scoring for motion pictures and television at the University of Southern California.
