More college football
As Big 12 play really gets under way this weekend, let’s look at each team in the conference. You will see a common theme of October 6th.
(North)
Nebraska: I guess they are the best team in the conference, but they are not playing like it. They get thumped by USC and barely squeak by Ball State. I thought this team was ready to start dominating the North, but I was wrong. They are closer to Tech, OSU, Mizzo and A&M; than they are to Oklahoma and Texas.
Mizzo: They continue to put up points, and they continue to give up points. But they are 4-0 against moderate competition. They have a good QB that will keep them in games. Their season will be decided on October 6th, when the Huskers come to town.
Colorado: They are improved from last year, but they still have a long way to go. Dan Hawkins and his son (QB) seem to be building something there in Boulder, and they bought themselves some time with a huge win over Colorado State. They start conference play with a 2-2 record, but they face league dragon Oklahoma at home this weekend. Ouch.
Kansas State: KSU is the biggest question mark in the conference. They played tough at Auburn, but Auburn is looking more like a joke each week. Their players are talking smack heading to Austin this weekend to face the Longhorns.
Iowa State: Gene Chizik is off to a terrible start, despite a huge win over Iowa. Why did they fire McCarney again?
Kansas: When they play a school with a football team, then we will discuss them.
(South)
Oklahoma: Dominating in every way. They might be the number #1 team in the country. They have the second fastest defense in the nation (LSU is first); playmakers everywhere on offense; a huge offensive line and a quarterback that is playing out of his mind. Have they been challenged yet…..on October 6th they will.
Texas: Al Davis said, “Just win, baby.” Right now, that is all Texas is doing. They are 4-0, but it is an ugly 4-0. Texas needs to play well against KSU, before Armageddon on….October 6th in Dallas.
OSU: I thought this team was done after they got wood-shedded by Troy, but they showed something with their win over Texas Tech. It seems that they have found their QB in Zac Robinson, now they just need to find a defense and a coach that can deal with the media.
Texas A&M: Talk about being taken behind the woodshed. What ”Tha U” did to them was just mean. There are a ton of problems wrong with this team. They can’t pass, can’t play defense, they lack speed, the RB Lane doesn’t like his coach and they can’t pass. It is like Fran stole Denzel Washington’s offense from “Remember the Titans.” Is Frantastic done in College Station?
Texas Tech: Same old Tech. Lots of offense, yards and points; zero defense. Their defensive coordinator quit after their loss to Oklahoma State.
Baylor: Guaranteed win day for the other teams in the conference.
