Construction on Mockingbird Lane about to wreak havoc in Highland Park
DALLAS Highland Park is about to start a year-long construction project to rebuild Mockingbird Lane, from the Tollway to Hillcrest Avenue. With only a trace amount of glee, this story presents the delicious quandary faced by the town's wealthy residents -- i.e., there are no alternative routes. There's an excellent quote from a mother who lives on tony Beverly Drive, where the traffic will be diverted -- oh, the irony -- wherein she says, "My kids have been late to school every day for the past week." Maybe they ought to leave a few minutes earlier than usual? Just a suggestion. Also, love the town engineer's name -- Meran Dadgostar. Whoa.

Scott Doyle, says:
Wait, so they're not going to widen it (which anybody who's driven on it will tell you is absolutely necessary), and in some areas it's going to be more narrow?

Of course they're not going to widen it - that would require some residents losing a piece of their front yard!
