Allen’s Kerr Elementary receives two environmental awards
Allen Kerr Elementary was recently recognized for their environmental efforts during the 2006-2007 school year. The Texas PTA recognized Kerr as the 2007 Go Green Initiative Outstanding Green School for the second consecutive year. This award recognizes a school with outstanding programming in educating students about the environment.
Kerr also received the Campus Beautification Award from the Texas PTA. This award recognized the efforts put forth by the Kerr PTA including improved landscaping around the marquee, new bench seating outside of the school and two live oak trees planted on the campus.
The trees were funded by a grant from Lowe’s Home Improvement and planted by the Allen Parks and Recreation Department.
