Concert Review: Every Time I Die
For those of you that have not heard of Every Time I Die, you are seriously being musically deprived. This metalcore 4 piece hails from Buffalo New York and graced Dallas's Palladium Ballroom with their presence as part of the current Underoath tour on Tuesday night. The last time this band was here was in July as part of the Sounds of the Underground tour and I have to admit, at that show I did not catch their entire performance. I know now that I missed out.
Following Maylene & The Sons of Disaster, ETID took the stage at around 8:30 to a packed Palladium Ballroom (that for some reason resonated with the smell of onions). With an audience that seemed to be a mix of scene kids, hardcore fans, and even your occasional hair-in-the-eyed emo cliche speckled throughout, one thing was consistent among all of them, they loved this band. As vocalist Keith Buckley ripped into the first song, people immediately began crowd surfing and pouring over the rails.
This entire band seems to posses endless energy and as everyone on the stage ran back and fourth, throwing guitars over their shoulders, head banging, and making sure not to stay still for more then 2 seconds I had to wonder, how are there not multiple collisions at every show? It was about that time that I looked up to see one of them (I later identified it as Guitarist Jordan Buckley) flying over my head and landing directly onto the crowd. Right after the 1st song, Buckley pointed out how great the crowd was compared to other cities on the tour and made reference to Dallas being the city that assassinates presidents.
Before starting into "We'rewolf" Buckley mentioned that the video was filmed here in Dallas and talked about how much the band likes this city claiming that before this tour started they "Knew this would be the best show of the entire thing". When it seemed that the crowd could not possibly get any rowdier, Buckley demanded that the entire crowd open up into one giant circle pit and the band started performing "Bored Stiff" only to stop 10 seconds in to criticize the pathetic attempt, and start the song over to a bigger, and much more proper pit.
After a highly energetic, flawlessly performed set, they closed with the crowd favorite "Imitation is the Sincerest form of Battery" as the Dallas fans went insane and once again, began pouring over the rail and opening up multiple smaller mosh-pits all over the venue. I was highly impressed by this performance and think that anyone that is a fan of rock music should check out this band. With a unique sound that seemingly appeals to fans of all rock sub-genres, you cant help but to appreciate the music of ETID. I can say that I wont be missing any of their shows in the future. That is certain.

The real show to be at on Tuesday was Boston's Death Before Dishonor at the Red Blood Club.
