Ross Perot selling off his copy of the Magna Carta

Ross Perot is selling off his copy of the Magna Carta. Sotheby's, who will handle the auction, estimates its value at nearly $30 million. (Actually, they estimate it at £15 million, but Pegasus News has added value here by converting £ to $.) Perot's Magna Carta dates to 1297 and is one of 17 known copies in the world. The others are all in libraries in England, except for one in the National Library of Australia.
Perot had loaned his to the National Archives in Washington D.C., where they had it sitting next to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. But then Perot pulled it abruptly; his foundation is selling to make funds available for other charitable work.

kirk, says:
I think the National Archives intends to replace it (along with the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution) with the Patriot Act.
