Children’s Medical Center teams with Angelika Plano for Heidi screening

Heidi is one of those films that have become legendary not for their content or brilliant execution (and I'm not saying that doesn't apply here, if you can wade through the double negatives) but rather for their context in the greater social reality.

On Sat., Oct. 6 at 11 a.m., the Angelika Plano will have the original (1937) version of Heidi - starring an eight-year-old Shirley Temple - cued up to play for a new generation of kids and moms looking for heartwarming film fare. (ZZZZzzzz....)

What makes this classic film screening worthy of additional attention is the fact that Children's Medical Center will be exhibiting original artwork - created by CMC patients - in the theater lobby. The paintings have been selected from numerous works painted during a recreational art class at the CMC; they depict vacation destinations favored by the young artists.

Tickets may be purchased ($8.75 for adults; $6 for kids; $5.75 for - for instance - one's grandfather) in advance at the theater box office. Visit the Angelika website for further information.
