The Women's Cross Country Team from Dallas Baptist University went from being an un-ranked team in the South Central region last year, to being ranked 25th in the National Poll this week. In the USTFCCCA Division II National Rankings the Dallas Baptist women have entered based upon their performances up to this point in the season.
This is the first time that the Patriots Cross Country Teams have been ranked in the National Polls; they are also currently ranked 5th in the NCAA South Central Regional Poll.
"This is a great honor, but it's just a ranking. We still have to go out and run hard this weekend, at Conference, and then at Regionals to hold on to that ranking, and hopefully get a chance to compete at the NCAA Division II Championships. I'm so proud of the effort we've given so far, and I know that these young ladies are going to continue pressing on," commented third year head coach Jacob Phillips.
The Patriots Cross Country squads will be in action this weekend at the Oklahoma State Jamboree before taking three weeks of preparation for the Heartland Conference Championships, hosted by Incarnate Word on October 20, 2007.
