UPDATED: Fatality accident on Interstate Highway 35E in Carrollton
CARROLLTON On Sept. 28, at approximately 9:53 a.m. Carrollton Police and Fire Personnel responded to a major accident in the 1000 block of South Interstate Highway 35E.
A Chevy Cavalier was disabled in the left lane of traffic northbound and was struck by a fuel truck. The fuel truck then struck the dividing wall in the center median and overturned. The driver of the fuel truck was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident is currently being investigated by Carrollton Police accident investigators and the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office.
UPDATE: On Friday, Sept. 28 at approximately 9:48 a.m. Carrollton Police and Fire Department units responded to a fatality traffic crash located in the 1000 block of South Interstate 35E.
A 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Daniella Arredondo of Dallas was disabled in the left lane of traffic of the northbound lanes of traffic. The Cavalier was struck from the rear by a 2002 Mack service truck driven by Amado Covarrubias of Arlington. The impact of the collision caused the truck to impact the concrete center divider between north and southbound lanes of I-35E. The center barrier was heavily damaged and two sections were pushed into the southbound HOV lane.
The driver of the truck was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dallas County Medical Examiners Office. The crash is still under investigation, and intoxication doesn't appear to be involved.
