Fort Worth woman threatens to slap city with lawsuit over “Trinity trees”

Fort Worth resident Melissa Kohout recently warned the city of her plans to file a lawsuit if officials allow gas drilling to occur within a grove of trees adjacent to the Trinity River.

Kohout's lawyer, Jason Smith, is arguing that the river's hike trail is a public park, and as such, it cannot be drilled into. City officials have previously pledged not to allow drilling in any area recognized as a park, so now the question comes down to whether this area is truly a park or not.

For more on this issue, read up Fort Worth blogmaster (and PegNews content partner) Steve Smith's previous posts. In the meantime, long live the trees.
