This past summer, McKinney Summer Musicals had returned to the community after an 11 year hiatus. When I interviewed Director Kevyn Robertson, she had said that the outcome of the 2007 musical would influence the future of a 2008 season. Well, the 2007 production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with a cast of 40 and an orchestra of 27 had over 2500 attendees and due to the overwhelming response and smashing success, the McKinney Summer Musicals will be back.

They will be presenting The Music Man in summer 2008. They chose this show because they have been garnering requests for a big chorus show and this one has it all, for singers, dancers and actors. It’s delightfully fun, energetic, and contains some of the best show music of musical theatre, including "Seventy-six Trombones", "Pick-a-Little, Talk-a-Little", "Gary, Indiana" and "Till There Was You". Performances will take place from July 5-13.

To get you in the mood, here is the song, "Shipoopi," from The Music Man as presented by "Family Guy":
