The FWSO has grown into one of the most successful orchestras of its size in the United States, serving an audience of 250,000, with an annual budget of $12.3 million, a 52-week season and a $27 million endowment. In January, the Orchestra will make its debut at Carnegie Hall. Under the baton of Music Director Miguel Harth-Bedoya, the FWSO will premiere a new work for cello and orchestra commissioned by Mercedes and Sid Bass from world-famous composer Osvaldo Golijov with soloist Alban Gerhardt.

The Carnegie Hall concert follows rave reviews from press and patrons for both the FWSO’s Mahler Cycle in August and its opening concert on September 14. During the Opening Night Celebration, the musicians also received praise for their dedication from the Board of Directors and an exciting surprise: Mercedes and Sid Bass gave an unexpected gift of $1 million in honor of the musicians’ extraordinary achievements over the past season.

“My husband and I are thrilled to express our appreciation to the musicians for their hard work and to support the artistic excellence and continued growth of the orchestra,” Mercedes Bass said. “The extraordinary musicians of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will always have a special place in my heart.”
