UT Dallas men’s soccer holds on for tie with Mississippi College
Facing the prospect of second straight American Southwest Conference loss, the UTD men's soccer team got a game-tying goal from Mazi Rabiee with just over a minute left in regulation Thursday and held on for a 2-2 double-overtime tie with conference leader Mississippi College.
The Comets, playing shorthanded with two players serving one-game suspensions for red card infractions last weekend, twice found themselves down before rallying to tie the game. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Kevin White got an unassisted goal just three minutes into the second half. Then after MC took the lead at the 65:19 mark, Rabiee got the dramatic game-tying goal with just 1:38 left on the clock on an assist from Miguel Garcia. UTD then had to survive a 10-2 shot advantage from the Choctaws in overtime as Jake Brandon made four saves. MC outshot the Comets for the match, 27-17.
UTD, which improved to 5-3-1, 2-1-1, travels to face Louisiana College Saturday.
