Hitchcocktoberfest creeps into Angelika Plano featuring movies, contest

You too can create Hitchcockia - if you dare.

Not only will the Angelika Plano theater be featuring five of the best classic Alfred Hitchcock thrillers during the month of October - they're also sponsoring a Hitchcock-themed contest, with prizes to include online posting of winning user-submitted short films, songs, photo essays, poetry, paintings and/or collages; complimentary stays at the Marriott Legacy Town Center; a "Masterpiece Collection" Hitchcock DVD box set; dinner at Nicola's Italian Ristorante; free food at Sal's Pizza; and an assortment of movie passes, t-shirts, tote bags and coffee mugs. It's all part of a promotion - rather psychotically dubbed Hitchcocktoberfest - for the new Angelika blog.

The films:

Beginning with Vertigo (in which James Stewart forces Kim Novak to act out his kinky role-play sex fantasies, in case you'd forgotten) at 7:30 on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd, succeeding films (Rear Window, Psycho, The Birds and Dial ‘M’ for Murder) will screen on succeeding Tuesdays at the self-same hour.

The contest:

Entries should be submitted to angelikasubmissions@gmail.com by Monday, Oct. 29; they will be judged by New York City's hotshot Angelika film programmer and the winners announced at the Dial ‘M’ for Murder screening on Oct. 30th. (Which means that the hotshot Big Apple programmer dude/gal will be up all night carefully evaluating those last minute entries, poor tortured soul.)

Contestants must be 18 or older to enter; video, music or other performance pieces should confine themselves to five minutes; and (BUM!.. Bum... bum...) all submissions become the property of Angelika Film Center and cannot be returned. (Digital submissions are strongly suggested.)
