AFI Dallas: red carpet at the Magnolia

They said it was going to rain. Honest!

In stunning synchronicity, for the second year in a row (of only two such years from which to sample), Dallas was placed under a severe weather alert on the evening of AFI's red carpet at the Magnolia Theater. As a result, the planners moved the red carpet indoors.

As it turned out, the bad weather leapfrogged Uptown and everyone ended up sweating it out in a nearby unused space set aside for the occasion. By the time the evening was over, there was a healthy sheen of perspiration on the brows of folks on both sides of the velvet ropes.

The big draw for the event was the band Bowling for Soup, who - along with a host of others whose films were screening that evening (Monday, March 31) - acted the celebs and answered insightful questions blurted at them by savvy press folk.

Me? I was just there for the pictures. Hope you enjoy 'em.
