Arlington, Mansfield, and Kennedale 8th graders do pretty good on TAKS reading
School districts in Arlington, Mansfield, and Kennedale released preliminary results of the reading portion of the 2008 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests that show an improvement in 8th-grade scores, especially in Arlington, where 94% of 8th-graders passing reading, up from 88% in 2007.
Mansfield had about the same performance as last year, with 94% of 8th-graders passing; in Kennedale, 97% of 8th-graders passed.
Younger grades didn't do as well, with third- and fifth-graders coming in as "mixed"; read all about it in the FWST.
