Spokesperson Matt Mackowiak told the Corpus Christi Caller Times that Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison was "planning" to run for Texas governor in 2010. Despite her staff's best efforts to put off making a formal announcement, it has been widely assumed that she will make the run. Current Governor Rick Perry will be eligible for a fourth term once this term ends.
Unfortunately for Hutchison, one young Perry detractor won't be quite old enough to vote for her in 2010. But he is invited to visit the "Kid's Corner" page on her official website, which includes many of her "favorite Internet links for children." Among them, The Texas Department of Transportation, The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (For Kids), and FEMA (for kids), featuring a jolly little tornado, smiling maniacally as it steals the lives and livelihoods of everyone in its heartless, windy path. Fun for kids ages 0-Age of Reason.

Hmmm, apparently only 6 of the 47 Texas governors have been Republican. Figured it'd be vice versa.

Republican used to mean different things. The political parties in name have essentially flip flopped over the years.

Apparently the parties weren't solidified as conservative/liberal until late 70's, explaining the decent mix since.

The Dixiecrats and Southern Democrats of the 40's and 50's really were the forebears of modern Republican politics. It was the Republican Goldwater campaign of 64 that set the wheels in motion by appealing to the Dixiecrats. The rest is history. The early 90's was the final transition in Texas with Bush ousting Ann Richards.
