City of Heath DPS implements “STOP Thief!” program

1

The City of Heath is implementing their own version of the nationally-recognized "STOP Thief!" program, whereby a highly-visible, bright gold hanging placard is issued to residents which is designed to be displayed from a vehicle's rearview mirror when the car (or truck, or SUV, or Humvee, or army surplus armored vehicle) is parked.

Until the point where the hanging of the tag from one's rearview becomes routine and second nature - like breathing, or nose-picking - it will serve as a reminder to the actual hanger-person to remove all valuables and lock their car. On the other side of the placard, it notifies crooks that all items of value (except perhaps that vintage Wrigley's Spearmint pasted under the seat) have been removed, thereby making any effort on their part to break in and steal stuff fruitless. (Unless you consider the Juicy Fruit under the passenger seat.)

To obtain your STOP Thief! hanger, head on over to the Heath Department of Public Safety at 200 Laurence Dr. - or look for locations displaying the STOP Thief! poster.

For additional information, contact Officer Brian Burton at 972-961-4906.

Oh - and don't forget to remove the highly-visible, bright gold hanging placard before driving off to pick up the kids from soccer.

Pavel Lishin, says:

It's going to be awesome when people get pissed off at their neighbors for hanging these, and implying that other cars do have valuables. "If you hadn't hung up that damn placard, my car wouldn't have gotten broken into!"
