DeSoto Police have arrested the mother of Jonathon Potts, the 12-year-old boy whose father stands accused of beating him to death.
Tracye Nicole Johnson, 34, turned herself in Wednesday afternoon. She is charged with injury to a child by omission. DeSoto Police say she knew the beatings were happening and did nothing to stop them. Terence Potts, 40, is charged with murder, allegedly for beatings that left the child severely bruised and injured. Jonathon Potts died March 25. Terence Potts told police he spanked his son the night before. Johnson told police Terence Potts spanked Jonathon because he didn’t come home the night before.
The medical examiner’s report listed the cause of death as blunt force trauma. Child Protective Services has removed Jonathon’s two sisters, aged 9 and 11, from the home.
