UT Arlington to host panel discussion on the crisis in Darfur
In an effort to help raise awareness about the crisis in Darfur, a refugee from the war-torn country of Sudan will take part in a panel discussion at The University of Texas at Arlington at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3.
Refugee Ismail Abrahim will be joined on the panel by Dr. Alusine Jalloh, director of the Africa Program at UT Arlington, and Victoria Smith, a human rights activist who has worked in Chad refugee camps twice during the past year.
The panel is being moderated by Dr. Rick Halperin, director of the human rights program at SMU, and will be held in room 100 of Nedderman Hall, 416 S. Yates Street (directions). The panel is the culmination of a month-long set of programs sponsored by UT Arlington’s Freshman Leaders on Campus (FLOC) that included related events such as a documentary film screening, service projects and a gallery display.
This panel discussion is free and open to all.
