DALLAS Earth Day is coming on April 22 and Dallas is prepared.
Earth Day celebrates our beautiful planet and aims to increase awareness about the environment, and there are several upcoming events in the Dallas area where you can make a small but notable difference.
If you prefer reading…
Renee Loux, host of Fine Living TV’s “It’s Easy Being Green,” will be at Exhale Spa in Hotel Palomar on April 15 signing her new book, Easy Green Living. According to Loux’s website, the book acts as a guide for applying Loux’s everyday whole foods philosophy to home, garden and beauty. After she signs your copy, you can browse her GRN line of skin care that is conveniently sold at Exhale Spa.
If you want some music in the background...
Oak Cliff is holding their second annual Earth Day celebration on April 20 at Lake Cliff Park. The all-day event features food, an art show, live music and dance. There will also be exhibits that encourage environmental responsibility. Mayor Tom Leppert, Mayor Pro Tem Elba Garcia, City Councilmember's and State Representative Yvonne Davis will plant a tree. If that's not enough, there will even be a display of hybrid cars and trucks.
If you are a current or future homeowner…
Renowned green builder Jim Sargent is holding a seminar called “Green Building and Energy Efficient Remodeling for Homeowners” on May 3. Sargent’s seminar will teach attendees how to make their current or future home a little or a lot more green. Transitioning to eco-friendly homes has become an increasingly popular trend and may one day be the precedent. Even HGTV has a contest where one lucky winner receives an extravagant Green Home.
After attending one, all, or maybe even none of the events, you might still feel inspired to do something good for the planet. Stop by The Green Spot to refuel both your car and body, and when you throw away your Blue Sky soda, you can feel good knowing that the cup and straw are 100% compostable.
