Texas Gay Straight Alliance Network to hold regional meeting in Dallas
Youth First Texas will be host for the Northern Regional Meeting of The Texas Gay Straight Alliance Network, a statewide program that unites school-based GSA student clubs on April 12 at the Youth First offices, 5415 Maple Ave., Suite 225, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Topics at the meting will include introducing the network and explaining its mission and goals, sharing the statewide GSA network model, the eight Texas Regional Youth Councils, the Texas GSA Statewide Activist camp set for later this year, defining the boundaries of the northern region and the regional climate for LGBT youth and their allies.
The meeting is open to LGBT youth and youth leaders in the area.
The goal of the Texas GSA Network is, though peer support, leadership development and training, to support young people in starting, strengthening and sustaining GSA networks and this build their capacity to create safe environments in schools for students to support each other learn about homophobia, to educate their school communities about homophobia, gender identity and sexual orientation issues, and to fight discrimination, harassment and violence in schools.
