Giant windmill erected at Grapevine’s historic Nash Farm

Grapevineites are encouraged also to wear Dutch clogs and carry tulips.

— As part of the restoration of Grapevine's historic Nash Farm, a 44-foot windmill went up just behind the Nash house -- similar to the one that was at Nash house in the late 1800s.

The windmill has been installed just in time for the 6th annual Spring Into Nash Farm event on April 12, with pony rides, sack races, quilt demonstrations and so on.

The 5.2-acre Nash Farmstead, presently owned by the Grapevine Heritage Foundation, is comprised of the original house, the original barn, and the family burial ground. The Nash House is currently being renovated to its original appearance – even utilizing original components of the house from 1869. Once complete, visiting Nash Farm will be like stepping back into the late nineteenth century. The facility will offer educational programs, interpretive exhibits and historical perspectives of the city’s heritage and agricultural roots. The property will be an active farmstead where animals will be raised, crops will be produced and classes will be taught. Docents, dressed in Victorian attire, will be positioned throughout the agricultural roots. But you can't have all that without a windmill and now one has been erected. Dutch clogs are optional.
