Plano residents erecting nets to protect their homes from balls
Residents pay good money for a house on a golf course with a nice view of the fairway. The view isn't so nice, however, when a golf ball flies through your window. Some Plano residents have resolved this issue by putting up nets to protect their property. Plano's current rules only apply to fences, so the city is now working on net regulations, in which the residents will be able to keep the nets as long as they are under a certain, yet to be determined height.

I always did wonder about the risks of living on a golf course. I guess most people assume that golfers are good at the sport?

Anybody who's actually been on a golf course should know the vast majority of golfers are terrible. I'd sooner have a greenbelt behind my house than a golf course.

New homes are always built too close to the course. I'm surprised it happens enough to make people want to put up nets, I'd hate having a net like that in my backyard. I'd also hate random people going by my backyard all the time.

Scott Doyle, says:
Having watched a guy I golfed with bounce a drive off the roof of a couple of houses, it's no surprise to me the nets are going up.
I'm wondering why they're just now motivated to do it, though. Is little Johnny in a coma because he got waxed in the head when he was bouncing on his trampoline? And is it on YouTube?
