ARLINGTON Sweet Tomatoes opened its second Dallas-Fort Worth location in Arlington on March 24. Located at 4001 Matlock Road, it's the 107th in the chain. Roughly 7,000 square feet and accommodating 244 guests, the all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant offers a rotating menu of more than 100 recipes featuring signature salads, soups, bakery goods, and hot pasta sauces, showcased on a 45-foot salad bar and prepared exhibition style every 20 minutes.
The Arlington location is one of four planned for the Metroplex. The first opened in October 2007 in Prestonwood Town Center West at 15225 Montfort Drive near Addison. Future locations are planned for Southlake and Irving.
Sweet Tomatoes' "contemporary farmers market" look has an exterior designed with rich earth tones to evoke a farmhouse feeling, while the entry façade mixes raw materials such as wood, cement, and stone. The interior has an exposed ceiling and dropped lighting to create an urban feel, and high, barn-like windows to bring in natural light.
Catering packages start at $8 per person, with two tossed salads, two chilled prepared salads, baked potatoes, baked muffins and cookies, beverages, plates, and utensils. Hot soups or hot pastas can be added for $.50 per person per item. Staffing is available, and delivery is free within 10 miles. Orders should be placed 48 hours in advance by calling the restaurants or online.
A sibling to the similarly-themed Souplantation, Sweet Tomatoes has earned the reputation of being good neighbors and is already reaching out to the Arlington community. It was the food donor for the Maverick Metroplex Racquetball Championship & Racquet for the Cure Tournament held February 1-3 and hosted a preview fundraiser to benefit a Wish with Wings on March 21.

It's too bad there's not one planned for Dallas proper - the one in Addison is quite tasty - a more than adequate substitute for Souper Salad, which I don't even bother going to anymore it's so run-down and dirty (that goes for most of SSs I've been to in the metroplex).
Sweet Tomatoes fills the void that Fresh Choice left when it abandoned the market a couple years ago.

I'm a big fan of the Sweet Tomatoes in Addison. This Arlington location will add a healthy dining option while I'm at school. Excellent!
