DALLAS The Dallas Mavericks took another huge baby step towards the playoffs Tuesday night, defeating the less-than-Supersonics 99-83 at the AAC. Leading the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors by two games for the seventh spot in the Western Conference, the Mavericks raised their record to 49-29 on the year.

The Supersonics' season has been slightly less majestic than they'd hoped
Seattle dropped their franchise-record 60th loss of the year, the day after putting up 151 points in a win over Denver.
The Mavericks outshot the Supersonics 50% to 38% from the floor, and even managed to hit nearly 44% of their three points attempts. Jason Terry led the Mavericks with 22 points with an extremely efficient game, shooting 9-for-11 from the field, including hitting both of his back-breaking three point attempts.
Josh Howard put up 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Dirk Nowitzki collected 11 points and 12 rebounds in 25 easy minutes. Jason Kidd added 6 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists.
