One Tarrant County GOP Dist. Judge runoff decided, another may face recount
One race was decided while another could warrant a recount in Tarrant County District Judge Republican runoffs.
In the 213th Judicial District runoff between Republicans Louis Sturns and Lisa Callaghan, Sturns took the nomination with 56% of the vote.
There was a much tigher race, however, in the 17th Judicial District GOP runoff. With 100% of the precincts reporting, Melody Wilkinson and Mike Hrabal are nearly tied with 50.09% and 49.91% of the vote, respectively. The difference between Wilkinson and Hrabal was a mere 20 votes out of a total of 10,538. When a two-candidate race is within one percentage point, the losing candidate has the right to ask for a recount. No word yet (midnight Wednesday) on whether Hrabal plans to do so.
